SOMETHING PERSONAL

My name is Arash Shahbaz, a Dutch industrial designer born in Iran in 1991. In 2009 I started studying industrial product design at the university of Arnhem. At the end of August 2014 I graduated as a industrial product designer. During my study I also received a certificate for enterprise during a minor study. My goal for the future is to do a Masters in transportation design in Milan Italy.

During my study I have completed three different internships including my graduation internship.  At first I started as a product designer at Ceemo Design. A company that is specialized in making composite materialized products such as glass fiber and carbon fiber. During my internship at Ceemo Design I designed a carbon fiber lamp. The goal was to design a product which could be made from pre made carbon finger tubes. This way less man-hours were needed and the production costs were minimized. During this period my knowledge grew about designing and working with composite materials.

At Chocolate and Foam I mainly worked on a bicycle rack, which could be mounted on the wall. The goal was to design an aesthetic rack which would fit in a modern environment. The rack also functions as a wall light so it satisfies two needs, so it is never a functionless object in the room. The final product is a functional and elegant object, that respects every component of the product, by showing every detail instead of hiding it.

During my graduation internship at Carver Technology I designed the exterior for a three wheel electric vehicle. Carver is known for the tilting of the vehicle when cornering. This way the vehicle can be narrow and compact. Thanks to the tilting technique the vehicle is more stable and can corner faster. This new type of vehicle is very narrow and can maneuver through traffic. Since it is an electric vehicle which has zero emission and can be used in all major cities withouth pollution. The project is fulfilled by five students with different studies and responsibilities for the vehicle. During this period of five months we worked on designing and making a fully working prototype.
