HEMA | COFFEEMAKER

The Bamboo3 is designed as a schoolproject during the third year. This assignment was given by HEMA, a great store in the Netherlands which sells home products. The goal was to make three sustainable kitchen equipment, a water cooker, a toaster and a coffeemaker. During this project I was responsible for designing the coffeemaker with three other project members. A sustainable coffeemaker was the main goal, which meant we had to reduce material and energy usage, use recycled and sustainable materials, and make sure the coffee maker was easy to recycle. 

The Bamboo3 is a small coffeemaker which only uses the needed energy to heat up water for one cup of coffee, and not the whole tank. The body around the console is produced using bamboo.  The Bamboo3 has less parts compared to most coffeemakers, this way less material is needed to produce the Bamboo3. The console is made out of recycled polypropylene this way no new plastic is needed for production. 

We also designed a small and efficient packaging, this way less fuel and space is needed during the transportation. The body around the console is made out of two pieces, and put in the box in a compact way. Before using some assembly is required.
